This situation right here just confirms that talent can be passed on to your children and your children’s children and so on! I know many of you, like me, grew up on Commissioned and Witness. If you don’t know at least 3 or more songs from both of these groups, in my opinion you don’t know Gospel music! That’s how influential they were! Little did I know that years later I would become a fan of Michael & Lisa Page Brooks’ offspring, Tasha Page Lockhart. I knew they had a daughter who was a singer, but what I didn’t know was that she was working on her own solo project. You may remember that Tasha was added to the Witness lineup on the CD “An Appointed Time” and she added a youthful vibe to the group, which I think was needed at the time. Since discovering Tasha’s MySpace page, I’ve been anticipating this new project for months. I like Tasha because she just doesn’t sound like a younger version of her mother, but she has captured her own style, while keeping the influence of her mother in her vocal phrasing and tones. I premiered her debut single “I Believe” and from the amount of hits it’s been receiving, I’d say everyone else is interested too. The anticipation will soon be over because Sunday September 6th, Tasha is having her CD release concert in Inkster, MI at 9pm at the Pentecostal Temple C.O.G.I.C. I was invited to attend…but money ain’t growing on trees for me like it used to, so a flight to Michigan from Los Angeles is sounding real pricey these days. In any case, if you are in the area and can make it, I know she is going to give a heart felt, spirit filled performance that those in attendance won’t forget. My exclusive interview with Tasha is coming very soon so stay tuned!

P.S. If you listen to Lisa Page Brooks’ first album “More Than You’ll Ever Know” you will find a young Tasha featured on the song “Working Together.”
