GOSPEL INDUSTRY SUMMER 2010…WERE YOU THINKING THIS TOO??
- Don’t you think the albums released this summer have been average at best??! Won’t name any specifically, but you know what they are! lol
- Aren’t you trying to figure out how Brian Courtney Wilson’s CD is still on the charts? We’re 4 months away from 2011?!?!? That’s a good team he has!!
- So come on… tell me what you really think of Forever Jones!?!?
- Don’t you think Isaac Carree should have chosen a different first single than “Redeemed,” which had already been recorded by Heather Headley?!?! Pretty song, but more of an album filler!
- Is anyone thinking about purchasing that “Blessed & Cursed” movie? Is anyone a little skeptical?!!? lol
- So do you think it’s going to take Leandria’s album even longer to come out since A’Yanna’s is just coming out this month!??!
- What is going on over there at the GMC and their programming?!?! One word…CRICKETS!!! Could you at least buy “The Cosby Show” series we care about!?!?
- Are any of the finalists or runner’s up from Sunday Best ever going to release an album?? Ooopss actually Shari Addison did and we see how that turned out.

As far as this summer’s albums go…I think that Lowell Pye,DeWayne Woods and Darwin Hobbs were above average…Brian Courtney Wilson is still on the charts because he keeps dropping hot singles…he got about four tracks getting airplay right now…GMC…at least they’re trying on Sundays….dont know how long that will go…Forever Jones…I slept at first, but they do have some really good songs on the album….Leandria is more of a work in progress than Y’anna, so she may take longer….they played Shari with the song selection on her album…Y’anna’s should be better…

Hmm interesting point gospel has been a bore lately period! Its always the same ole same ole if Kirk, Yolanda, Donnie, Mary Mary aint releasing an album its like a year full of crickets! Its sad it has to be this way but thats the way things are promoted on radio and even on the gospel television platforms. I think Ledisi got more play then any gospel artist this year well television wise. I’m expecting a gospel album from her next time around or umm….sit down. No im not saying she’s not talented or does not have good music but its enough many gospel artist dont get the opportunity to showcase their talents enough on large platforms like BET and GMC, and I think those opportunities should be given to those artist. I really think their should be shift in whats going on in radio the only good radios around are the one who are online. Okay I know you mention Brian Courtney Wilson I can say nothing about him cause he apart of the Music World Gospel camp and those my peps so Ill support whoever comes out there and like you said they got a good team over there and Brian deserves it! Far as Sunday Best….I am SMHH (Shaking My Head Hard) whats the point of the show when the winners never get any play I mean Yanna album just coming out this month and I’m sure people gone be Yanna who cause we havent really seen her outside of Sunday Best and how’s that single doing on radio…..cricket cricket. They need to get together with these Sunday’s Best contestant all the hype and nothing happens. Now Im looking at billboard radio charts for gospel and one of the things I’m not understanding is why Marvin Sapp is still at number one like yes “The Best In Me” is a good song but really #1 for nearly 30 something weeks just dont make sense to me……I dont know but gospel need to switch it up do something different. and far as Gospel Music Channel they shud def change that to Never Any Gosepl Music Channel cause all week long they playing Dr. Quinn or whatever I think that should be the new name of their network. O yeah another thing whats up with these holy hip artist hitting number 1 on the charts like who’s buying their albums? Cause I asked all the church folks and they like who???? But props to them atleast they getting theirs in. Gospel we can do better let’s get it together for real there are some really great under rated artist that really need to get some shine

I think it was sooooo dumb of BET not to release A’Yannas cd during this season of Sunday Best as well as Jessica Reedy they could have promoted during the show since that’s what the show is for I think their albums would have done well this summer since no one released any (anticipated) records!! I havvent been encourage to by any new records lately I go to the gospel music section and all I’ve been heaing in the past couple of months were crickets!

I purchased Vashawn Mitchell’s new CD “Triumphant” and it is definitely above average! This is his best release to date! My favorite songs include “Nobody Greater”, “Be Fruitful” and the SMASH “His Blood Still Works” with Lisa Page Brooks. Everyone should definitely support this album and ministry. It is good praise and worship music!

I agree a couple of those statements. “Redeemed” wasn’t a great song to lead with, because there’s nothing “striking” about the song. He sings it well, but for a single from your first record, you’ve gotta come out of the gate a little harder.
Looking forward to hearing Y’anna Crawley’s album, but I’m even more psyched to hear Leandria’s. That young lady is QUITE the talent. I thought it was pretty foolish for Sundays’ Best to release this project so late! Why would you wait until AFTER the Season 3 winner had already been declared, to release the project of the Season 2 winner?

Im not feelin the new GMC programming at all…Some of the videos they are starting to show arent even Gospel…Im not sure what they’re reasoning is behind all this but its not working for me…

I stopped listing to the radio after I got my new car back in 06 because everything was the same I find music on my own. And y’all are right BET should do a better job at promoting the Sunday’s Best winners because if I didn’t come online I would never know who they were.
And as for Blessed and Cursed Deitrick and his production team need to be slapped. That movie was confusing. The only reason people said it was good was because it was his first movie. And whoever is managing Kierra Sheard should’ve told Deitrick about himself. Because nobody else’s
sound messed up only hers. He was wrong for that. The was music was good but some of those scenes were unnecessary.

I disagree w/ Paul Cash, I think Le’Andria’s CD will not take as long. True she is a work in progress, but the rawness of her talent is what people are so captivated by. I believe the producers of her CD will try to capture that before commercialization takes over – because that is what the fans want and are asking for…pure, anointed and unpretentious worship. I love Yanna, her voice is beautiful and the CD is awesome. But Le’Andria brings more to the table…with the ability to touch people deeeep in their soul. God bless them both.

cd’s this summer were ok…..FOREVER JONES’ cd is good for a debut. “he wants it all” and “heaven’ are the best tracks on the album. about ISAAC CARREE “Redeemed” is on “brian courtney wilson’s” album as well. Brian’s album aint going any where anytime soon…especially since it was re-released and is back in the top 3! and “all i need” is soooooooo relateable! “blessed and cursed” was subpar! i actually loved “PREACHERS KID”! hopefully Leandra’s cd will come out by at least march or april…people tend to have a short attention span!

Well 2011 has come and gone, and shame on me because I only purcahsed 3 gospel CD’s this year. Dawkins & Dawkins, Tye Tribb and J Moss…. I saw many cd’s in the stores and online, listened to alot of samples and didn’t find anything fresh other in my opinion than what I purcahsed. Ok ok. I have to admindt that I am partial to Rhythm & Praise, but being a homeboi of LeAnn and knowing her from the City (Orlando) i was not really impressed with the CD because those of us who KNOW LeAnn know that she can SANG!!!!! She is your grittiest, grimiest hard nose gospel and one of the most versatile gospel singers out there. The CD maybe a chart topper but the girl’s creativity has been stiffled. I want to hear the realness of what she can truly do. Let me explain myself so people won’t think I’m hating because I’m not.
It’s like listening to a Fantasia CD and saying hmm thats ok… (just ok now) but then hearing her rip the song “live” and you are like NOW DANG that’s what I’m talking about…Well LeAnn is just like that, and can go on singing like that time and time again. She’s truly a gospel gal….
Oh this was supposed to be about 2010 LOL….+
