OUT WITH THE OLD AND IN WITH THE NEW: DEITRICK HADDON ANNOUNCES ENGAGEMENT VIA FACEBOOK

As a new year approaches in a few days, it seems some people are starting early with new beginnings!
Gone are the days of phone calls and text messages—now social media is the new medium to make a major announcement for everyone to see! Using the platform Facebook, on Wednesday, Gospel singer Deitrick Haddon officially changed his single status to “engaged!”
He followed the profile update with a post on his page that read: “Thank God for 2nd chances! This time I hope to get it right! A renewed vision for my life! Yeeeeeup.”

His new engagement comes just four short months after Haddon publicly acknowledged during a series of Twitter messages that he and Gospel singer Damita Haddon were no longer married. On August 14, 2012, the “Crossroads” singer posted on Twitter: “Our breakup is NOT recent, it’s been well over a year process…God is with us but no longer as a couple.”
His former wife Damita has remained tight-lipped about their split and has never commented on their divorce. The couple did not have any children.
While his pending nuptials have surprised some fans who never even heard about his divorce from Damita, industry insiders are wondering why the 39-year-old vocalist has not announced that he became a first-time father this year.
Apparently, Haddon’s engagement is to a twenty something Los Angeles woman whom he fathered a daughter with in early 2012. His bride-to-be is apparently several years younger than him and neither her name nor his daughter’s was available at press time.
The Detroit native—who released his second theatrical release “A Beautiful Soul” to moderate success earlier this year—is gearing up for a release of a mixtape that includes Gospel remakes of popular mainstream hits. Haddon interestingly reworked Usher’s “Climax,” (a song about a relationship that’s reached it’s breaking point, yet the title insinuates something different) as the first introduction from the mixtape.
Though Haddon—who was a pastor of a Detroit church until he relocated to Los Angeles after his split from Damita—continues to perform Gospel concerts in the United States and internationally, it has been rumored that Haddon has interests in recording an R&B album in the future.

“Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18
Leave D Haddon alone, if he repented, already he has been forgiven. He is better off he admits he sinned other than those who cover their sins and are still serving in the church(hypocrites!).

Couldn’t have chosen a better scripture. Sad story, but God is able.

2 Corinthians 6:17 Therefore, COME OUT from THEIR MIDST and BE SEPARATE,” says the Lord. And DO NOT TOUCH what is UNCLEAN: and I will welcome you.” Yes, God is a forgiving and Loving God. Why do we take advantage of His love? The Bible is our blueprint to Christian living. We can’t have one foot in the world and one foot out, and expect to be blessed. God will not bless us while in Satan’s den. Sure, you can repent, and your sins will be forgiven, but if you confess to be a Christian, it’s time to live like one, and put away childish things. How can anyone that commits adultery, commit to God?

When a person puts them out there in the manner that Dietrick did, he opens himself up to criticism, ridicule, and everyone’s opinion on the matter. The fact is, none of this is surprising. A spirit-filled man or woman cannot mix “clean” with “unclean” and not become tainted, if you will, in some shape or form. I have yet to see a gospel artist who mingled closely with the world and not become involved in some sinful scandal or descend into a backslidden, fallen state. Only a few of them, recognized they needed to come out from among them and be separate (so says the Lord), so that He could receive them. Dietrick’s mistake was serving mammon instead of God. When becoming a millionaire is your primary goal in the kingdom, instead of winning souls for Christ, no matter the personal cost, you’ll get sucked into the world’s way of thinking and doing things. If any spiritual person reviews his interviews over a course of time, you will see his steady descent into worldliness and less of a sanctified and consecrated life, set apart from the world. His job was to win souls for Christ and he lost focus, because of the pursuit of fame and money. You can’t expect to be accepted or loved by the world! The world will hate us, because of our stance on the word of God. But these gospel artists are trying to be accepted, recognized, awarded, rewarded, and loved by the world (they call it “crossing over”), so they conform to the things of the world. By doing so, they lose the affect of the anointing to draw people to the truth of the gospel, which is the only thing that has the power to break the chains of darkness from people’s lives.
I pray that he is taking the time to re-evaluate his relationship with Christ, and allow the Holy Spirit to re-direct his ways into the way of true holiness before God. It costs something to follow Christ. He must study the word of God, consecrate himself, and rededicate himself to the work of God. Deitrick only has to prove himself to God as a faithful and true servant. He has to realize that if God isn’t pleased with what he does and how he does it, what everyone else thinks–good or bad–really doesn’t matter. Because in the end, God’s judgment will be final. That, my friends, is what he and everyone else should be concerned about. None of us will have any excuse for sin when Jesus returns.
I pray for Dietrick and all the other gospel artists. There is such a high price to pay if they lead God’s people and any sinner away from the Lord by your conduct and the things you say, or things you sing about.

That was truly inspirational. You are right, in order to know God is to study and show ourselves approved to Him and Him only. 2 Timothy 2: 1-15 tells us to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus and not to be entangled with the affairs of this life. WE are to please God. Obey God and leave the consequences of life to Him. If we trust in Him we will be like the children of Israel – Deuteronomy 2:7, because HE is merciful, gracious, kind and loves us. He takes care of us and we lack no good thing.

I hope and pray that the rumors are not true that you will be leaving gospel to do R&B , because God will not be in the mist of that and your blessing may be cutt off. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. Remenber to seek God first.

MBrown, goin in2 R&B doesnt mean leaving gospel music. there s gospel r & b

I don’t believe he’s going to r and b. Just a rumor. If your a spiritual person you can tell r and b is not for him. In the movie a beautiful soul he don’t even look rt singing r and b and being lustful. Gods glory is all over him. All I could see was dietrick The gospel artist. He has the voice to go r and b but his anointing and God won’t allow it. When God calls you to do something you can try to fight it but you won’t win. He won’t let you rest until his Work is done. That’s if you truly love, fear and want to obey him

Deitrick Haddon, I love you. I love your new future wife, and your beautiful baby girl. I love your former wife, Damita, also.
I believe good things for you. I see that you are being led to the Christian movie acting and probably some production 2. Just remember to stay on the right side of the 2 lifestyles (Christian and unsaved). Stay with God. I believe in God. I believe in you too, Deitrick Haddon.
Pray continually. Seek Godly council. Marry the woman that loves you and loves God also. Be a good father. Listen to the voice of God as he directs your life. Everyone will not understand; just make sure God does. Love everyone, even those who have done you wrong and try to drag your name through the mud. Do right, and right will follow you, and one day you will hear the Lord say: “Well Done my good and faithful servant; enter into the rest of the Lord…” By the way, the young man, Travis Mimms, does an awesome mime praise dance of your song “Well Done:. He is awesome like you are, Deitrick Haddon. With Much Love,

Deitrick, Ure a man of God and nothing can change it! The devil spares no one who propagates the gospel to depopulate hell and give glory to God! the devil has a place he’s always waiting for us; the unguarded moment which we must all watch out.
I know that this is an attack of the enemy to daint ur public image, destroy ur ministry and frustrate all ur efforts and service in the ministry to render ur heavenly bank account empty while those u’ve been inspiring and been a source of motivation in their lives and ministry will give up on God and reject ur message in the process!
I pray for u because I believe in you! Dont give up on God coz He wont give up on u! He’s waiting for u to carry on with the assignment He gave u on earth-[ur purpose is ur design] and no one can do it like God made u to do!
Ive followed u over the years and I know the stuff ure made of! Uve been a Mentor, Friend and Brother and regardless of the hurt and pain, I’ll stand by you to pray for God to heal and help u recover speedily and perfectly as u re-consecrate ur life back to Him. This is not only about u but about the millions all over the world that God had sent u to!
Concerning ur new family, I wish u the very best as I also congratulate u on becoming a father – [I imagine how it could feel]; endeavour to be nothing but a good father and role model! Then about Damita, pray for her and remember the good times u had together and how u contributed positively to her life and visa viz. She may not be perfect but I feel she’s not that bad. I counsel u commit everything to God whose able to keep u holy and sanctified for His glory! Amen
I love you Brother!

Why are we judging this man like this? He does not deserve this banishment that you all are giving to him. We are simply humans everyone makes mistakes. Only Jesus is perfect. You call your selves christians but yet when a man makes a mistake you want to judge him. This makes the christian religion look horrible. If I was not a chistian when I looked at this I would have said ” No way in heck would I be a christian! “. This is just outrageous! What if it where you in this position? Would you want people to judge you like this? How would you feel? While your sitting there thinking about those three questions just think about how God feels right now. If he switches to R&B so what! We all know he still loves God and believes in God. With that being said have a blessed day to all those who are readin this.

Yes he looks young. I thought he was 27. I’m a witness God will preserve You. God uses everything about us to when souls. Looks, dress code, hair, swagger ,voice etc. I’m a singer not a star but I attract people of all races and age groups. When I do I always mention something about my Lord, after all he made me.

I was serving 5 years @ the TN. Prison for Women for Vehicular Homicide by DUI, when I first heard your wonderful music. It helped me so much…it is a blessing from God Himself. The “other” music no longer satisfied my soul…! Now, I tell everyone I meet about your music, how it feeds the soul, the spirit man & how it touches the deepest part of the heart- softening the rough edges. Love you man. You are a blessing. Keep the faith!!!

Let the first man who is without sin cast the first stone! Make sure your own house is clean. We ALL got issues!! D.Haddon, thank you for your music, it has EDIFIED, INSPIRED and ENCOURAGED SO many people. THE ones who judge and attack, quick to speak negative! Ask yourselves this question:” What have I done for the community or someone?” If nothing , please excuse me: SHUTUP!!!

God is judge & jury. He will judge us all. I pray for any believer that gets caught up in sin. My concern is when people of God speak the words of God the first to be offended is believers. The comments stated I don’t believe anyone don’t won’t him to be victorious but it is our job as believers is to stand on God’s word. Not in condemnation which i don’t believe anyone has spoken but wisdom from God. So any believer who has a problem with someone speaking scripture in love my need to do a heart check. I know I have had to check my heart when people have spoken God’s word to me in a loving way & i’ve wanted to reject it. We as believers need to remember if people are not being lead to Jesus Christ & evident is that lives are being changed. Then what is it all for is the next question. Make know mistake that satan is real & that he is hear to kill, steal & destroy. Kill the holy spirit steal what God has called believers to & destroy families. The evidence is before us everyday in each of our lives. My prayer is that we pray for one another stay in God’s word & don’t love this world or anything in it. 1 John 2:15

God bless u and that beautiful baby. Nobodies perfect but as a star some people Think you should be. I recently saw you in concert and you were awesome and still anointed. I love your style of music and the lyrics ,it keeps me going. When God is for you who can be against you? The enemy made his attack and you fell but you got back up again. Now I pray you are stronger, wiser and more anointed than ever. Let people talk because no matter what you do they are going to hate and be negative. Look how they treated Jesus. I’m listening to your Beautiful Soul c.d now and can’t wait till your new album drops. Stay positive and Keep up the great works. We need u and your music.

While Deitrick does bear the brunt of responsibility, I can’t help but wonder what kind of woman Damita is. I suspect that she did not want to give Deitrick children(15 years of marriage), and it is common knowledge that she is NOT the easiest to work with(or be around). I can only hope that everyone involved receives closure, and I support Deitrick in a move towards R&B. Not all R&B is filthy, and not all Gospel is Biblically-sound and God-breathed. I will just have to stay tuned

I think deitrick haddon is a wonderful man of god. I dont understand why yall wanna judge him. He still human. Before yall so quick to judge him yall need to look at what people say if you was in this situation. Yall need to quit judging deitrick and leave him alone during this tough time. I support deitrick haddon in what ever he do.
LIVE IT
Well the MAN of GOD should learn to shut up and keep his business to himself. That info should not have come out like that whether true or not. Damita hasn’t announce an engagement , he put his business out there. That is why people don’t like church- folk because of MESS like this. This is also why I only use FACEBOOK as a mean s to keep in touch with people. The internet is no place to air your dirty laundry whether Instagram, MySpace or Facebook. If you notice most of his music talks about “NOT JUDGING”………I wonder why? LIVE IT or SHUT IT………My prayer is that people would stop embarrassing THE GOSPEL.

His behavior is discouraging. As a young woman who is committed to living pure and holy, I long to find real role models who live how they preach. The only one you can look to is Jesus because everybody else will eventually fail and disappoint you. Now I am beyond the statements that we must not judge! I am not judging him, no, I am saying that his behavior…his conduct is discouraging and disappointing. God says in His Word to whom much is given even more is required. Mr. Haddon has been given much and much is required of him. And gone are the days when a person has failed themselves, others, and God and they sat themselves down ! These ministers do wrong and continue right on going!

Yes we’ve all done wrong in our lives. There is two sides to his and Damita’s storys but the one we need to seek is God’s. Personally i hope Detrick’s R&B album does not blend in with the worlds ciricular music. What has darkness got to do with light! Come on now we serve a Mighty Awesome God who can give Deitrick a whole new Genre of Music!! we dont need to conform to the worlds standerds. We must seek God before we make Big decisions because its him who knows best at the end of the day.

Deitrick sat down for a year. He did his time and I respect him for that. Don’t matter who you are or what you do sin is sin. We all will be held accountable by God. His busines was out before he said anything. He defended his self like anyone would. He’s a gospel star his business will be leaked wether he says something or not by enternet et….as far as church folk lol. People shouldn’t Base what u do for. God off of us were human just like anybody. Else. If u want to go to church, give offering etc…do it for. God not because of who the preacher is or if the church folk are messy/sinners

Unfortunately I think that the reason he is in this position is that the only Gospel star is Jesus. The bible said that he is the Bright and Morning Star, so when gospels singers are viewed as stars and celebrities, I believe a line is crossed and blurred.
I’m not judging him, because “if” he is living in sin then he is already judged by the word of God. Because the word says no sin shall enter in the kingdom of heaven, so I don’t sit back and judge him, but I do wonder a lot about the things that many of the people who sing gospel strive so very hard to look act and blend in with the world.
We are supposed to be different from the world. We are supposed to look, act and walk upright and let there be a distinction between clean and unclean, holy and un holy. Being human does not give us an excuse to sin because we are taught in the word of God that we are born into sin and shapen in iniquity Pslam 51:5, so from that scripture we know that we are sinners, yet Christ came to be an example that we could follow to live a sinless life.
The biggest lie the devil pertuated was to tell mankind that he is only human. We were created in the image of God, so we are flesh, spirit and soul, and the same power that Jesus excersized to live a right life here on earth is the same power that he gave us when he left, so we have choices to make and that it to live holy or not. A mistake takes place when you don’t know any better, but when you know better and still do it is to sin and that is willfull, not a mistake.
I love Dee, no doubt, he has blessed me tremendously. I would play his music at my job over the entire P.A. system while all the hip-hop and reggaeton heads were laughing at me for playing my gospel, and the negro can preach too.
I pray that he is where he wants to be and that sis Demita is in a good place as well. One thing I can say about her is that she is not flaunting anything at all, and since we have 3 sides to every story, the one we know is right can only come from God because he sees all and knows all, including what we harbor in our hearts. So I’ll keep lifting him and all saints all over the world up in prayer because strong delusion has fallen over many of us and we are sleeping on truth and I pray that when Jesus returns that i am one of the ones who goes back when he comes

If people don’t like church because of the church folk in it or because of a pastor whose not perfect u will never go to church. No church is perfect. The church is moving toward excellence and perfection every day butt Will never meet it because only God is perfecion,so we try our best. I pray people Will look to God and not man and stop making exscuses for not going to church or beleiving in the gospel

It’s interesting the dynamics of the comments listed here. There are some very valid points made if you stand on the side of what is right in the eyes of God and not at a place where we are justifying the wrong we do bt saying God is the only judge, and we should not judge. The word of God says that we are to judge the wicked.
Let us not forget that we are called to a higher standard of living, and just because someone sings gospel or christian music does not mean their heart is in the right place. When the word says judge not, lest ye be judged, it’s speaking to the hypocrite, not the person who walks upright in God.
We have made icons and stars out of the so called saints of God, and that is the problem, because they see themeselves as stars and not servants of the gospel who minister by way of song. I have never in my life seen so many gospel singers who look and act like the world. We have lost our savor, we are no longer the salt of the earth when we look like the world, so who does the sinner look to when they need help? They can’t look to the so called Gospel Star because they live the same way the world lives, they look like the world, they act like the world.
Mary J Blige made a comment that if the saint looks like me, then who am I going to turn to? The deaf , dumb and blind can sense that something is wrong with us today in the church. There are no healings, there are no deliverances taking place, and we gather in church as if it is a social club where we come to get a fix and a good jump and go home, but we are not changed, and our lives are still in a mess.
We have played around, we have lost power and we look more towards worldy things and possesions rather than looking towards the provider of all those things. So what do i really think of what he has done? Well all I can say is that I am praying for all of our so called gospel singers, preachers, evangelist, elders, bishops, apostles, all these titles because from the front of the church to the back of it, we all need to be revived again.
