TROY SNEED “ALL IS WELL”

Last year Emtro Gospel CEO and artist, Troy Sneed, had one of the biggest songs in Gospel with the hit, “My Heart Says Yes.” Looking to continue his chart topping success, Sneed is back with his 7th solo release, “All Is Well.”
“All Is Well” is album full of refreshing live instrumentation, simple melodies, relatable lyrical content and smooth vocals. Songs like the soothing “All Is Well” the R. Kelly flavored “I Know You Hear Me” ft. James Fortune and the moving single “Lay It Down,” all will have you humming along like you’ve heard them before. The ease of each song is genius and proves just how great of an artist Troy Sneed is with his smart interpretations.
The jazzy and groovy “Song For You” and the adult contemporary R&B jam “Absolutely Awesome” will make you want to do a little two-step right in your living room…all in Jesus’ name of course!
Then there are my personal standouts, like the feel good praise and worship song “For Who You Are,” the delicate and intimate heart cry “In Your Presence,” the authoritative declaration “God Will Show Up,” and the Earth, Wind and Fire inspired “Bless The Lord.”
The album closes with the spirit filled, churchy, ballad “Have Your Way” and the contemporary “Mighty God.”
To my surprise, “All is Well” is by far one of my favorite CD’s released this year. From the spot on live instrumentation and arrangements, to the palatable lyrics and catchy melodies, to the incredible background vocals, there is nothing sub par about this project. PLEASE don’t come into this project looking to hear over produced vocals, a bunch of runs and million different chord changes. This is NOT that CD! It’s for the mature listener who can sink their teeth into all types of musical styles and can appreciate an all around exceptional musical experience. Sneed’s serene tenor and high falsetto, puts you in the vein of artists like The Whispers, Earth Wind and Fire and Frankie Beverly and Maze. And if I’m being honest, a few of the lyrical choices come off a little cliche, but it works and doesn’t take away from the songs. Above all, what really makes this CD shine is the sweet background vocals. The brightness and purity of the vocals shine through on every song and most importantly, they don’t sound like any other background vocals on every other Gospel CD, which nowadays many artists are using the same singers, which in turn creates the same sound!
As you can probably tell, I more than like this CD, so NO CRICKETS for Troy Sneed’s “All Is Well.” If you don’t pick it up, it’s your loss!
